Attacking
In Gotchi Battler, battles are automated, allowing players to watch the action unfold based on the strengths, abilities, and tactics of their assembled teams. Here's a comprehensive look at how combat works in the game:
Attacking basics
The skirmish between Gotchis is automatic. Each Gotchi possesses its set of stats. The power of the attack is based on some strategic elements such as the: type of attack, leader skill and formation.
Damage calculations
The damage a Gotchi deals depends on its type of attack, either 'magic' or 'physical'. Depending on this, the Gotchi will use its magic or physical stats for the attack and the defending gotchi will have to use the corresponding stat for it's defense. Thus, the 2 attack formulas look like this:
Magic Attack Formula
Physical Attack Formula
Attack outcomes
When a Gotchi attacks there’s 2 chances of the attack missing. First, the accuracy check is done to see if the attack misses, this is based on the % chance from the attacking Gotchis Accuracy stat. Secondly, the defending Gotchi has a chance to evade the attack, this is based on the % chance from the defending Gotchis Evasiveness stat. These checks are done independently from each other in this order and both checks have to pass to confirm an attack has hit. Therefore there are 3 possible outcomes when an attack is executed:
Miss: The attack doesn't land.
Evade: The defender dodges the attack.
Hit: The attack is successful

Counters
A dynamic twist to Gotchi Battler's combat is the potential for counter-attacks. Some defending Gotchis, under specific conditions like the 'taunt' status, can instantly retaliate after being struck. This immediate response, paired with the element of surprise, keeps every match exhilarating and unpredictable.
